  Chromebricks FAQ

What´s the opinion of LEGO® to the modification of the bricks?

We got  the written authorization of LEGO® to sell the coated bricks. However, LEGO® is not involved in the production or sale of the coated bricks in any time. All guarantee and warranty claims are taken over by Chromebricks.com.

Which bricks are used as raw material?

Chromebricks uses excluding bricks of LEGO®.  We refer them either directly of LEGO® or buy them at bricklink or other shops. We pay attention that we use as neutrally colors as possible, like grey, black or transparent. In exceptional cases we fall back on available colors, if it´s not receivable or too expensive in the procurement.

How are the bricks chrome – or gold coated?

We work with a huge german company which uses a special industrial procedure to evaporate the bricks with the different metals. If the bricks don´t come directly of LEGO®, they get released from fingerprints before the coating.  So that the bricks shine and do not appear matte later, each brick will be provided with a transparent lacquer before vaporizing.  Afterwards  the metal  will be vapor-deposited in the vacuum and for a better durability the bricks will be sealed with a transparent lacquer once again.

Which metals are used?

For our bricks we use exclusively real metals and no colored or chrome-like lacquers. Our gold bricks are vaporized with genuine gold. Thereby they get their unique and unmistakable gloss. For 2500 Bricks 7gramm metal becomes vapor-deposited.

Can I still block the bricks?

The laid on materials result in together an unbelievably thin layer of for instance 50µm. That is so thin that painted bricks can be blocked problem-free.  Because the tolerance of some LEGO®-bricks varies, sometimes it can become somewhat difficult to get the completely blocked chromebricks out of a model. Here should be absolutely worked with the LEGO® brick separater to avoid any damage around the bricks.

What do I do if there´s  a problem?

Should despite strict control and care a problem arise please write us an email. For all further questions, suggestions and criticism you can also contact us by email.

What should you avoid?

To protect the coated bricks they should be kept separately from other bricks. In no case we recommend to store the stones in a digging box. You should abstain from washing the bricks in a washing maschine or dishwasher, as well as a treatment with finery and detergents. To remove dirt or fingerprints we recommend a soft cloth ( e.g.  Eyeglass cleaning cloth). Small parts are unsuitable for children under 3 years.

Are the used materials injurious to health?

No health-endangering materials are used. All material are used for years in the industry and are examined regarding a health endangerment and are subject to constant monitoring.

Can I also send own parts?

Because we made an individual attachment for each brick, a one-off production will become particularly complex and cost-intensive. If you should need bricks in chrome or gold, which are missing in our assortment, please contact us. The edition should cover at least 10 bricks of the same sort. We will provide you a noncommittal cost estimate. Please count on a approximately unit price of US$3 - US$10, depending upon part and size.
